In Africa
Through this book the reader follows some leads of the missionary track in Africa of Anastasios, the Archbishop of Albania, as well as some of his studies on the African religiousness that are evidence of the respect and knowledge that he exercised in his effort to approach the African soul, offering the treasure of Orthodox truth, the crucified love and resurrection hope of Christ.
Archbishop Anastasios (Yannoulatos), associate professor of the University of Athens and Honorary Member of the Academy of Athens, with the apostolic passion that characterizes all his life, combining the gifts of the distinguished theologian and student of religious studies, the creative leader and, mainly, the man of love and self-sacrifice, walked on the African savanna and in the African jungles and his passage “was very fruitful” and continues to multiply even after his physical absence by “his African people that are near to his heart”.

Unto the ends of the earth
This collection of missionary theses of His Beatitude Archbishop of Albania is a publishing event, as this comprehensive effort provides the readers with the opportunity to ecclesiologically appreciate the dissemination of the truth of the Gospel all over the world through the writings of a hierarch who has devoted a big part of his life to this end, being a verification, as few others, of the New Testament "shall be My witnesses". The writer highlights the deeper theological importance of the mission which is deeply related to the nature of the Church itself: the Church must be missionary, to embrace the ones that are not its members preaching the word of the Gospel and fulfilling, thus, our Lord's command: "Go ye therefore and teach all nations" (Matthew 28:19).
The work is divided into two parts. The first one is devoted to the missionary work of the desert monks and the first Christians, as well as the glorious era of the Christianization of Eastern Europe thanks to the intensive and organized missions of the Byzantine Empire. The second part includes an extensive presentation of the Orthodox missions of modern times, until recently unknown to the wider public, in China, Japan as well as Alaska. The wealth of the presented information and the rich literature quoted by the writer make the work, apart from being clear and concise for the wider public, a necessary text book for every scientific researcher.

Holy Mission in the tracks of Christ
Published and now in circulation by the Apostoliki Diakonia is the book titled «Holy Mission in the tracks of Christ» (Theological studies and homilies), written by His Beatitude the Archbishop of Tirana and All Albania Anastasios - who, for almost two decades had also served as General Director of the Organization.
The studies and the homilies in this collection comprise a deposition of personal theological concerns and at times even a spiritual, mystic agony; a deposition that commences with a series of questions and eventually evolves, often into an aching, an imploring, an outburst, in the face of the inertia, the confusion and the indifference displayed by the various 'responsible authorities', as well as the non-responsible. These homilies had been prepared for a variety of audiences: the young, the theological, or for the broader, international ones. This fact had also determined the style, the intonation, and the varying "sounds". Most of the texts of this volume were published for the first time in a foreign language, and later in Greek. Some of them (chapters 2, 10, 13, 14) have been translated in Greek and published here for the first time. At the beginning of each text, there is a reference as to the reason for its composition, also a mention of the year it was first published, as well as its later re-publications.
Many of the ideas and proposals that were first expressed in these texts had once been regarded as strange, or had been doubted. The attempt to theologically tackle new problems usually demands daring, as well as an acceptance of a certain element of danger. Nowadays, they have mostly become accepted by the orthodox conscience, and are being stressed by official voices. They have furthermore contributed towards the significant decisions that have been made by many, over the past decades.
The Prologue-Epistle of His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew includes an exceptional praise for "...the principal role played by His Beatitude the Archbishop of Albania in the rebirth and the reactivation in our times of the missionary practice and ministry, this being a most necessary task, and an expression of the Church's debt towards those who are outside the Faith and towards all the God-created brethren, in all the continents of our planet."
The fifteen studies that are included in this volume "...have been placed in chronological order, thus displaying the unfolding and the fluctuations of our theological speculation during the past decades."
At the end of the volume there is an alphabetical index, a chart with the Author's publications and a note containing his biography.
